Factores de autocuidado en la prevención del pie diabético en atención primaria de salud

Introducción: El pie diabético es una complicación prevenible de la diabetes mellitus tipo 2, cuya reducción depende del autocuidado en Atención Primaria de Salud. Objetivo: Determinar los factores de autocuidado en la prevención del pie diabético en pacientes atendidos en un centro de salud de Machala, Ecuador. Métodos: Estudio cuantitativo, transversal y correlacional, realizado en 2025 con 85 adultos con diabetes mellitus tipo 2, seleccionados por conveniencia. Se aplicó el cuestionario NAPD.V2, que evalúa automanejo, percepción sobre el pie diabético, impacto emocional, cuidado rutinario del pie y soporte social. Se emplearon estadística descriptiva y Chi-cuadrado de Pearson. Resultados: La percepción sobre el pie diabético presentó la mayor brecha: 37,6 % registró nivel bajo y 41,2 % nivel alto. El 49,4 % alcanzó nivel alto de automanejo; el impacto emocional, cuidado rutinario del pie y soporte social registraron 50,6 % de nivel alto. Las mujeres presentaron mayor proporción de nivel alto en automanejo, percepción sobre el pie diabético e impacto emocional (p < 0,05). Conclusión: Persisten brechas en la percepción del riesgo y el automanejo, especialmente en hombres. Se requieren intervenciones de enfermería estructuradas, diferenciadas por sexo y centradas en educación práctica, valoración periódica y detección temprana.
