Abstract

Population aging represents a growing challenge for health systems, especially in the comprehensive care of older adults. The objective of this study was to analyze the impact of community nursing strategies on the quality of life of older adults, identifying associated biopsychosocial factors. A quantitative study was conducted using a non-experimental, descriptive-correlational, and cross-sectional design. The population consisted of 180 older adults aged between 65 and 90 years. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire on community nursing strategies and the WHOQOL-OLD instrument to assess quality of life across its sensory, autonomy, activities, social participation, death, and intimacy dimensions. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics, Pearson’s correlation, and Student’s t-test. The results showed a predominantly favorable evaluation of community nursing strategies, highlighting the usefulness of the contents, the respectful treatment provided by staff, the perceived support, and satisfaction with the services received. Regarding quality of life, the high level predominated (60.6%), followed by the moderate level (35.5%) and the low level (3.9%). The most highly rated dimensions were autonomy, activities, and intimacy. The correlation between community strategies and quality of life was positive but very weak and not statistically significant in both women and men, with no significant differences according to sex. It is concluded that community nursing strategies constitute an important source of support for the well-being of older adults; however, quality of life depends on multiple biopsychosocial factors that require a comprehensive, humanized, and interdisciplinary approach.
