Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices Regarding Exclusive Breastfeeding Among Mothers Receiving Care at a Type B Health Center.

Introduction: Exclusive breastfeeding is one of the most effective strategies for protecting children’s health, promoting growth, and reducing the risk of disease during the first months of life. Objective: To analyze the knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding exclusive breastfeeding among mothers receiving care at a Type B Health Center, with the aim of strengthening the support provided at the primary care level. Methodology: This is a quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional study involving 70 mothers. The CAP survey was administered. The data were processed and analyzed using Microsoft Excel. Results: Regarding knowledge, 37.7% achieved a high level, 27.5% a medium level, and 34.8% a low level. This distribution shows that, although the high level is the most frequent category, there is a significant proportion of participants with insufficient knowledge, particularly regarding technical aspects and the management of complications. Conclusion: While practices related to exclusive breastfeeding are favorable, deficiencies in knowledge and attitudes persist that may limit its continuation.
