Knowledge Of First Aid Among Caregivers Of Children Under Five Who Visit The Health Center

The objective of this study was to determine the level of first aid knowledge among caregivers of children under five years of age who visited a health center in 2025. The study employed a quantitative, observational, descriptive, cross-sectional design, with a sample of 161 participants selected through simple random sampling. Data collection was conducted using a semi-structured survey that included sociodemographic variables, history of home accidents, risk factors, and immediate response to childhood emergencies. The results showed that 74.5% of caregivers had a high level of first aid knowledge, 13.7% had a moderate level, and 11.8% had a low level. Falls or blows were the most frequent accidents in the home, reported by 52.8% of participants, followed by cuts or wounds and burns. Additionally, a significant association was identified between the level of knowledge and the level of education, as well as with the primary occupation. It is concluded that, although a high level of knowledge predominated, training gaps persist that require continuous educational interventions starting at the primary care level.
