Abstract

Pressure injuries (PIs) represent a significant health issue frequently affecting older adults with limited mobility; consequently, nursing education is a key component in strengthening preventive measures within comprehensive care. The study aimed to analyze the relationship between nursing education and pressure injury prevention in older adults with limited ambulation during the 2025–2026 period. A mixed-methods approach was employed—combining quantitative and qualitative methods—using a descriptive, cross-sectional design with an analytical scope. The study population consisted of 50 nursing professionals, from which a sample of 44 participants was selected using non-probability convenience sampling. Expert judgment validation yielded an index of 0.85, and the instrument's reliability (Cronbach's alpha) was 0.82. The results showed that 40.9% of participants frequently used the standardized scale for pressure injury risk assessment, while 31.8% reported always using it. Regarding the documentation of assessments performed, 40.9% indicated that they always recorded them. The findings highlighted the importance of strengthening nursing education and ensuring the systematic and comprehensive application of preventive measures for older adults with limited ambulation. Continuous training improves the quality of care by promoting patient autonomy, thereby fostering holistic well-being.
